Custom Cupboards
During the winter months the cupboards were built and I just love them. I'm a wood nut and love tongue and groove pine. The entire house is done mostly in pine. I wanted to keep the cupboards matching the wall with the pine but I also wanted them to stand out so that's when I came up with the idea to go with round cupboard doors and a round contour curve. We have a utility room under the stairway in the kitchen that we kept the same theme and made a round door. The kitchen has an adjoining dining room with sliding glass doors to the back yard and a round valance type entrance was made for that as well. We even did the windows with wooden round shaped valances. I can't wait for the house to be completed but we are getting closer every day. We just finished adding on a mud room that measures 10 x 12 to hold all the shoes and coats. Living in Maine a mud room comes in real handy. First you have winter which tracks in snow and makes a mess of the floor then comes spring for what we call mud season. This will help keep the floors clean. Our next big project is to put in a stone fireplace and chimney. If we get that done by late summer I'm hoping to add on a huge family room. But time will tell if that will be possible. I took this picture during the construction of the cupboards with my cell phone camera so the picture quality isn't that great but at least it gives you an idea of what they look like.
